O Triângulo Eslavo face ao Unilateralismo Norte-Americano: Ações e Reações no QUadro da Luta contra o Terrorismo
The Slavic Triangle facing US Unilateralism: Actions and Reactions in the Fight Against Terrorism
Keywords:
Slavic triangle, United States, Fight against Terror, Relations Russia-USAbstract
Washington took the lead in the global fight against terror, particularly following the attacks of September 11, 2001, at first with broad international support - as demonstrated in military operations in Afghanistan - but afterwards it was faced with mounting criticism, with Iraq perhaps representing the maximum point of contention. The Russian Federation promptly demonstrated its solidarity and offered its support to the United States in the face of events, a tragic reality well known to the Russian people. Their support became evidence of Russian interest in active participation in the global fight against terror. However, despite apparent agreement, the Russia-United States relationship has been underlined by the continuing dialectic between multilateralism, hegemonic behavior versus cooperative stance, multi-vector policies alongside one-way approaches.
