Human Security in Debate
Keywords:
Security, Human Security, Security Policies, International RelationsAbstract
The emblematic “fall of the wall” of the Cold War's bipolar cleavage catalyzed a broad debate about security as a concept, as a discipline, and as a policy. The ideological antagonism was operationalized by the US and the USSR, which contributed to a reconceptualization of security from various theoretical perspectives and different fields of research. The proposals are diverse ranging from the extension of the security sectors to the analysis of the construction of the concepts to the widening of the security actors.
