Abstract

There are numerous studies on Portugal's relationship with other states, recalling, among others, the treaties on the "Afro-Atlantic Community" and "Portuguese Universalism". These and other opinions on the subject remained linked to opinions on the specificity of the Portuguese character and the role of Portugal in the European Project. Some analyzes of Portugal's European roots and Portugal's relationship with the European States have presented these roots and this relationship as a historical fatality, based on characteristics (geographical, human and historical) existing in Portugal. Therefore, the opinion about Portugal's historical resistance to Europe coexisted with the opinion about the European destiny of the Portuguese.

Resumo

Existem inúmeros estudos sobre o relacionamento de Portugal com outros Estados, Recordar, entre outros, os tratados sobre a "Comunidade Afro-Atlântica" e o "Universalismo Português". Estas e outras opiniões sobre o assunto, permaneceram ligadas aos pareceres sobre a especificidade do caráter português e o papel de Portugal no Projeto EUropeu. Algumas análises sobre as raízes europeias de Portugal e o relacionamento de Portugal com os Estados europeus, apresentaram essas raízes e esse relacionamento como sendo uma fatalidade histórica, alicerçada em características (geográficas, humanas e históricas) existentes em Portugal. Por isso, o parecer sobre a resistência histórica de Portugal à Europa coexistiu com a opinião sobre o destino europeu dos portugueses.
